Jah’s Faithfulness – My Daily Bread!

All week we have reflected on what it means to have faith in the life of the Christian. We began with the definition of faith in Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  We reviewed the testimony of the Saints of Old that trusted in God, even though they did not realize his promises during their lifetime; Jesus’ comments on faith based on the responses He received during his ministry; and the story of King Jehoshaphat of Judah and his example of faith in action under pressure.  We also learned that ‘it is impossible to please God’ (Hebrews 11:6) without it and that in the presence of Christ our faith is made complete.

Today we will reflect on the greatest example of faithfulness that has ever been displayed – Jah’s  faithfulness to us! [Note: Jah is the shortened version of the divine name Jehovah, which is the transliteration of the Hebrew symbols (YHWY) for God.  Also translated as  YAHWEY]

There are many beautiful writings in the Word filled with exhortations about God’s unfailing love and faithfulness.  Through these words our hope in the Lord is renewed, for it strengthens us to hold onto his unchanging hand; it gives us courage to live for God and the knowledge that He will make us complete!  Think on these passages and be encouraged Saints of the Most High!

God’s interest in providing us hope that sustains and his assurances that He makes daily provisions for his Saints – Lamentations 3:22-24

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness”.  

God’s guidance in the life of the Christian – 1Corinthians 1:8-9

“He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.  God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.”

God’s loving provisions for us during our trails and disappointments – 1Cororinthians 10:12-13

“God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.“  

God’s protection – 2Thessolonians3:3

“But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one”

God’s control in our lives and His role as the One who completes our faith – Philippians 1:6

“I always pray with joy …being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Because of God’s faithfulness we are not consumed by our circumstances but in the midst of sorrow can respond with praise as did the Psalmist who said “Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.  You guide me with your counsel, and afterwards you take me into glory.  Whom have I in heaven but you?  And earth has nothing I desire besides you.  My flesh and heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”  (Psalms 73:23-26)

Prayer: Lord, Thank you for your gift of faith; increase it that I might sustain my heart for thee! Amen!
