Being Lead By the Strength of the Lord – My Daily Bread!
God’s word to inspire our trust in the Lord is found in Exodus 15: 1-2, 13, NIV, which reads:
“I will sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea. The Lord is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; my father’s God, and I will exalt Him. You in your mercy have led forth the people whom you have redeemed; you have guided them in your strength to your holy habitation.”
These passages are exerts from the Song of Moses and the Israelites right after they had been delivered by the mighty hand of God after He parted the Red Sea!
Exodus Chapter 14 tells the story of how God rescued His people and destroyed the entire Egyptian Army in the Red sea. That God’s presence was among His people was visibly clear to them for we are told “And the angel of God who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them. So it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Thus it was a cloud and darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other all that night.” (Exodus 14: 19-20, NIV)
What an awesome display of the Lords assurance to His people. The cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night were symbols of God’s presence, of His guidance and protection. It gave the Israelites confidence that God could preserve them alive by the strength of His mighty hand!
Having just experienced this miraculous deliverance, Moses led the people in song before the Lord. Can you imagine the rejoicing there must have been on the banks of the Red Sea? Their song of praise was a joyful act of worship, it showed gratitude for God’s deliverance and protection in the face of insurmountable odds; acknowledged God’s mercy in action on their behalf and God’s sovereignty in the lives of those He has redeemed!
What about you today? Has the Lord parted any ‘Red Seas’ for you? Has the Lord been your cloud by day and your pillar of fire by night? When God delivers us out of our trials; Saints, we too should sing a song of praise; a melody so sweet that we cause rejoicing in the heavens. And each time God sustains us through our trials be able to witness – “He has put a new song in my mouth – Praise to our God; many will hear it and fear, and will trust in the Lord.” (Psalm 40:3, NIV)
