Christ’s Humble Spirit – My Daily Bread!
Paul spoke of the joy of being imitators of Christ our Savior. He encouraged us to take on the beautiful qualities Christ displayed in His nature when He humbled Himself all the way to the Cross. His words encourage us today, listen and hear Saints, the love of our King! Philippians 2: 1-4, NIV, reads:
“If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in Spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interest, but also to the interest of others.’
And here is one of our life lessons Saints: Unity with Christ leads to humility! What! Consider others better than me? Ludicrous some might think. And yet Christ’s total surrender to God’s will allowed Him to put the interest of others ahead of His personal interest. When we surrender ourselves totally to God, we too can be used as the very hand of God, ever ready to serve the needs of others. We must shift our attitudes, like Christ who came to serve, not to be served, so too His followers. The Church, the body of believers who call on Jesus’ name are called to serve in His kingdom! We are also called to fellowship, tenderness, compassion, and love – all with a humble spirit!
