Sing A New Song to the Lord – My Daily Bread!
Our call to bear witness to our God is taken from Psalm 96: 1-4, NIV, which reads:
“Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day after day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise.”
The Psalmist jubilantly sings out His praise to the Most High for all that the Lord has done! We cannot help but rejoice with him as we reflect on our own lives and the grace and goodness that has been bestowed upon us.
Saints, our greatest praise to God is to witness regarding His goodness in our lives; for we have much to be thankful for. Just thinking of the joy of our salvation sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption should be enough to make us praise and honor Him with overflowing thanksgiving in our hearts! Are you “convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord”? (Romans 8: 37-39, NIV) I pray that you are my Sisters and Brothers because this is the power of God’s love for us, for those who believe.
There are many beautiful Psalms that speak of all the earth rejoicing, not just mankind, but everything that is alive. My favorite is found in verses 11-13 of this same passage which says: “Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy; they will sing before the Lord, for He comes, He comes to judge the earth.”
Praise for our Great God overflows from all His creation which sings forth the wonders of His glory and majesty. Have you ever heard the swish of the trees as they gently move in a summer’s breeze? Or the sound of the rolling sea as it caresses the shores of a sandy beach? If all creation tells of His glory, should God’s praise not overflow from the hearts and mouths of those created in His image? As the redeemed of Christ, what kind of job are you doing to declare His glory among the nations? Will you “Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have worked salvation for Him” (Psalm 98:1, NIV) and because of His grace we are saved!
