A ‘Grace-filled’ Witness – My Daily Bread!
Our call to witness the grace that we have received is found in Paul’s words of encouragement in Romans 1: 5, NIV which reads:
“Through Him and for His name’s sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith. And you are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.”
In Paul’s letter to the Romans he speaks of the high calling that not only he but all who are called to follow Jesus bear – the call to witness the message of the Gospel. We may not all be called to go witness in faraway lands like Paul, but we are all commanded to share out God’s truths that others might be drawn to the Savior.
Here we are told that we already have the all surpassing grace upon grace that we need through Christ Jesus to live a life of Godly obedience that causes others to see God! So what is it that draws others to the ‘obedience that comes from faith’? Simply this Saints:
Our faith is our witness,
How we live our lives for Christ is our witness,
Our deeds for Christ are our song laid before the altar of our God,
The truth we speak of Christ is our witness,
How we love one another is our witness,
And how we forgive one another in the Spirit is our witness!
Just like Paul we too are “set apart for the Gospel of God” (Romans 1:1, NIV) and transformed to bear His image: “And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3: 18, NIV) I love Paul’s’ use of the term ‘ever-increasing glory’ for it reminds us that none of us have arrived! And that only through the grace of God can we live in the Spirit, that awesome place where others can see the Lord through us!
Search your heart Saints and ponder these two questions: Does your life point others to Christ? Do you sing of His praises and draw others through your ‘grace-filled witness to “the obedience that comes from faith’? Be encouraged to “let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5: 16, NIV)
