Mary’s Praise!

Mary’s Praise – My Daily Bread!

Our call to trust mightily in God for His promises is taken from the words of Mary the mother of Jesus and her cousin Elizabeth.  Sisters, and all Saints of the Most High God, let us hear these words and draw courage for they were written for all who put their trust in the Lord!  Luke: 1: 45-48, NIV reads:

“Blessed is she who has believed what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!  And Mary said.  My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for He has been mindful of the humble state of His servant.”

These words were spoken between Mary and Elizabeth while both were with Child, Mary with the Lord Jesus and Elizabeth with John the Baptist.  Elizabeth recognized that God was moving in the life of Mary and called her blessed for believing what God told her would happen to her regarding the miracle birth of Jesus.  My heart is captured by Mary’s response – she instantly pays homage to the Lord!  She speaks of her soul and spirit glorifying and rejoicing in the Lord!  She speaks of a God who was active in her life – “for He has been mindful of the humble state of His servant”.  She was not ashamed to proclaim that they knew one another, that she was His servant!

When great things happen in our lives, do we respond like Mary?  Do we recognize that we are blessed because of our belief in the Lord?  Do you realize that your God is mindful of the state of His servants and that He cares for us on a personal level?    Mary understood this simple truth and honored God for it.

Prayer:  Lord, you bless me continually and my soul is lifted to offer you praise!  You rejoice my spirit and I gladly take my place at your feet.  Give me a humble heart, one that glorifies your name!
