Wisdom – The Tailor’s Gift From God!

Wisdom – The Tailor’s Gift From God – My Daily Bread!

Much is said about wisdom in the Bible, in Proverbs alone, the word appears over 100 times!  Our reflection today is taken from the first time the word is mentioned in the Bible in Exodus 28: 3 where God is instructing Moses to:

“Tell all the skilled men to whom I have given wisdom in such matters that they are to make garments for Aaron, for his consecration, so he may serve me as a priest”.

God gave the Tailor's Wisdom and His Sew and Sew!

This scripture may not seem remarkable in and of itself, however; it is quite extraordinary given that it reveals the source of Godly wisdom and what to do with it.  Note that God gave these men special wisdom that enabled them to do HIS WILL.  The text does not indicate that they were looking for wisdom from God regarding this matter; but it is clear they were selected by God and did not possess it before He gave it!  It was a gift to be used for His express will!  This spiritual ‘supernatural sight’ enabled them to operate differently in the natural world; they could accomplish more than they had apparently ever thought of!  Can you imagine the awe and fear they must have felt at the moment they received the Gift?

How marvelous – they knew they had been changed, made different in the power of the Lord’s Holy Spirit!   And for what purpose?  To further God’s plan, in this case preparing others to be effective in His service!  Saints, our gifts are for the glory of God!  Paul encourages us with these words:  “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.  There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.  There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.   Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.   All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and He gives them to each one, just as He determines.“ (1 Corinthians 12: 4-7,11)

God has also given each of His Saints a unique gift to be used to serve him in His kingdom.  These tailors got wisdom; what has He given you?  How are you using your ‘supernatural sight’?  If you feel you are lacking in wisdom about what God has called you to do or what your gifts are – ASK THE LORD.  The Apostle James said “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him”. (James 1: 5)

It is comforting to know that our God who desires us to do His will (“For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose” – Philippians 2: 13) simply wants us to ask if we are unclear.  Praise Him for the opportunity to serve Him and have His will working through you; pray that you accept all that comes with it with Joy and thanksgiving in your heart!
