God’s Spirit Without Limit – My Daily Bread!
Our call to praise our Lord on this Christmas Eve is taken from John 3: 31 which reads:
“The One who comes from Heaven is above all. He testifies to what He has seen and heard, but no one accepts His testimony. The man who has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. For the One whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in His hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life.”
Christ came to bear witness to God in Heaven, to speak His truths so that man might believe in God and put their trust and hope in Him. To aid Him in His task God placed His Spirit upon Christ without limit or measure! Meaning that Christ had the fullness of the Spirit’s power at His disposal to manifest God’s plan of salvation to man. The concept of God’s Spirit without limit, fully available to execute and complete all that God wills is too awesome to even imagine! And yet, this is the same Spirit He showers down on us to accomplish the things He has called us to do in His will today! Saints, let this strengthen our hearts for this is part of the wonderful good news of Christ!
Christ not only provided a testimony to His purpose of salvation but His Holy Father in Heaven provided the ultimate confirmation! There is no grater witness than Almighty God! Hebrews 2: 3-4 tells us:”This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed by those who heard Him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will.”
Angles from Heaven heralded His birth to Shepherds in the field (Luke 2: 8-20); wise men were given a star to follow that led them to Christ (Matthew 2: 1-12); Simeon and Anna, God’s witnesses’ recognized Christ in the temple and praised God and prophesied on His life (Luke 2: 25-38); God’s Spirit in the form of a dove descended on Jesus at His baptism (Matthew 3: 13-17); and His transfiguration (Matthew 17: 1-13) are just a few of the ‘signs, wonders, and various miracles’ that recount how God provided confirmation that Jesus was His Son and means of Salvation to mankind.
Saints, we are blessed that God’s grace to man has led to God’s Spirit without limit at work in Christ Jesus not only then but also now! The same Holy Spirit that will allow all who call upon the name of the Lord to see that HE IS WONDERFUL, if only we believe! So on this Christmas Eve, cherish the Child who was born to leave heaven and Father so that we might cleave to the Rock of our Salvation!
