Thanks Be to God For His Unshakable Kingdom – My Daily Bread!
Our call to thanksgiving before the Lord is taken from Hebrews 12: 28 which reads:
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.”
In the spirit of thankfulness, during the week of thanksgiving let us raise our voices to the Father for His unshakable Kingdom! For those who believe, let us thank the Lord that we are citizens of the New Jerusalem and that Christ the Savior rules in our lives today! What a blessing to be heirs to the gracious gift of life! How blessed to have the Holy Spirit within us! “Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out Abba, Father. So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.” (Galatians 4: 6-7)
These passages give us confidence that no matter what happens in this earthly life our future is secure in Christ. Paul said something truly unique about what our heavenly perspective should be while we are still here on earth, he said “Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on earthy things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God”. (Colossians 3: 1-3)
Are you thankful that your life is hidden in the Savior? That your life is concealed and safe such that no one can pluck you from the Father’s hand? This is a beautiful privilege reserved or those who have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior; for those who have accepted God’s invitation to the unshakable Kingdom of His Son! And our response – thankfulness and acceptable worship with reverence and awe for Our King!
So when you are at the thanksgiving table tomorrow, remember to thank the Lord of Host for your citizenship and honor Him for hiding your life in that of His Son – the Lamb, our Kinsman Redeemer!
