Obedience and the Peace of God!

Obedience and the Peace of God – My Daily Bread!

Our call to hear God’s voice is taken from Isaiah 48: 17-18 which reads:

“This is what the Lord says – your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.  If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea.”

Our God desires to teach us how to live a life free of worry and anxiety.  He longs to lead and guide us so that we are able to experience His peace.  His peace is never-ending; His peace brings comfort to our souls and speaks of the quiet confidence that God wishes to give us as we navigate through life’s ups and downs.   However, the passage above indicates that because of our own disobedience, we often forfeit the blessings of God’s peace.

Paul also spoke of the negative ramifications of following our own way and at the same time encouraged us how to remain in harmony with God’s peace.  He tells us:  “Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that natures desires, but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.  The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.”  (Romans 8: 5-6)

Having our minds controlled by the Spirit is the key to God’s peace!  By the power of His Spirit we are able to live lives that please God and thereby enjoy the peace that He promises – “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You”  (Isaiah 26: 3)  Are you living in accordance with the Spirit?  Do you have your mind set on the things of God or the desires of this world?  Pray that God gives you the strength to focus on Him; to be led by Him and to be obedient to His Word; only then will you experience the untold blessings of His perfect peace!

  1. Peach is a commodity that cannot be “bought” and is so much needed by God’s people. It is easy to get off course, but we must stay the course!
