Anna’s Heart!

Anna’s  Heart – My Daily Bread!

Our praise for today is taken from Psalms 104:33-34, NIV, which says

“I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.   May my meditations be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the Lord.”

Sisters have you ever thought about what the Lord thinks about the meditations of your heart? Are they pleasing to him?  Do we know that the mediations of our heart are manifested in our outward expressions toward God?  What we think and believe about God is evident in how we live for God and what we say about him.

Anna was an aged prophetess who recognized the Messiah when He was brought to the temple for dedication. Not much is known about her, other than she was the daughter of Phanuel of the tribe of Asher and that after seven years of marriage she became a widow.   But the few words spoken about her let us clearly see how she felt about God and how God felt about her.    Her story is told in Luke 2: 36-38, NIV, which says “and this women was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fasting and prayers night and day.    And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem.”

No doubt she prayed for the Savior which had been promised centuries ago and who the Israelites were eagerly awaiting.   By this time, over 400 years had lapsed between the last spoken prophesies in Malachi and when Jesus arrived on the scene.    Anna’s ‘fasting and prayers night and day’ or the ‘meditations of her heart’ showed hope, faith and belief in God’s ability to save!  Because of her faith the Lord choose to reward her with seeing the means of his salvation before she died. God was pleased with Anna!  Note Anna’s reaction – first she expressed thanks to the Lord and then began to witness about Jesus!

Prayer: Lord, I pray that the meditations of my heart are acceptable to you; that the outward expressions of my love for you cause rejoicing and others to believe!
