The Lord is Our Reward!

The Lord is Our Reward – My Daily Bread!

Today’s Word is taken from Isaiah 49:4, NIV,  it says:

“Yet what is due me is in the Lord’s hand, and my reward is with my God”.

What a simple statement, but so full of promise and the hope of our Lord!

Yesterday we shared the story of how God works all things out for our good and His glory by reflecting on the story of Sari and Hagar (Genesis Chapter 16) against the backdrop of God’s promises in Romans 8:26.  That God sees us today, even the secrets of our hearts.  Hagar surely knew after her encounter with God that He was her reward; that her life was about what God was able to do, not what she was currently doing!

My heart is so taken with the encouragement of knowing that the Lord is my reward in this life and the next!  He does not keep us guessing!  In Hagar’s case He was very specific in his instructions when He sent His angel to give her His solution.  The Angel of the Lord asked her where was she going, told her to go back home, instructed her to get back to work in her Master’s house, and what God’s plan was for her life!

God is also clear in His instructions for us today!  And “whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, this is the way, walk in it.” (Isaiah 30:21, NIV)  Sometimes He has spoken, and we are still waiting to hear something different.  Like Hagar, God has a plan for all of our lives; but we must seek him to know it.   Through developing a personal relationship with God we come to know His character, His call on our lives, how to hear Him and most importantly – when He is speaking to us.  What we need in life can only come from God, He is our reward!

Are you unsure about something in your heart today?  Reflect on what God may have already revealed to you about the matter; seek Him in pray and listen for His voice.  Know in your heart that God is the REWARD!  Be confident that your life is not only about your current circumstances or what you know and are able to do, but your life is about what God has, is and is going to do!  And because your life is your song of praise to God Saints, – be able to rejoice and proclaim “The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation!” (Psalm 118:14, NIV)
